From deploy(impact) to a real career jump

Testimonal: Amanda Pakalniskyte

Welcome to deploy(impact) series of highlighting inspiring stories of former participants. This time, we had the privilege of speaking with Amanda Pakalniskyte, a determined woman who aspired to transition her career into the tech industry. Amanda graciously shared her valuable insights on how our program played a pivotal role in facilitating her journey towards securing her first role as a Junior Frontend Developer.

Thank you, Amanda, for sharing your inspiring story with us. What was for you your main goal in participating in the program?

Thank you! My primary goal when I joined the program was to kickstart a new chapter in my career by venturing into the tech industry.

Besides starting in Tech, what were your other objectives for joining deploy(impact)’22?

Beyond entering the tech field, I was eager to acquire tangible experience working on an actual tech project. I saw this as a golden opportunity to build a strong portfolio showcasing my abilities.

If you were applying for jobs, would you say that participating in deploy(impact) made your profile more attractive/visible and you got invited for more interviews?

Without a doubt, participating in deploy(impact) significantly boosted the attractiveness of my profile. It not only caught the attention of potential employers but also allowed me to network with peers who shared my aspirations and explore options I hadn’t considered before.

Could you share how deploy(impact) specifically helped you in your job search?

Absolutely. Since I lacked prior job experience in coding, the project I contributed to during deploy(impact) was a game-changer. It wasn’t just theoretical knowledge; it was a real-life project slated for implementation and for social good. This experience allowed me to highlight my teamwork skills and commitment to potential employers.

Did you receive interview opportunities or approaches from any of the sponsoring companies?

Yes, I was fortunate to receive both an interview and ultimately a job offer from one of the program’s sponsoring companies, within six months after completing the program. The experience and confidence gained during deploy(impact) undoubtedly played a significant role in this achievement.

Which aspects of deploy(impact) did you find particularly helpful in your career development?

The collaborative environment of deploy(impact) was a standout. Working within a team allowed me to learn from diverse perspectives and absorb valuable insights from fellow members. These lessons have been invaluable as I navigate my career.

How valuable was the guided learning, given by our mentors, experience during deploy(impact)’22 in your career journey?

The guided learning experience during deploy(impact)’22 was an immeasurable asset to my career journey. It provided me with the practical skills, confidence, and connections that I could not have gained elsewhere. It truly set the foundation for my growth in the tech industry.
